Powered by the revolutionary Altairnano lithium titanate battery pack, Phoenix Motorcars’ zero-emission, all-electric Sport Utility Truck (SUT) can cruise on the freeway at up to 95 m.p.h. while carrying five passengers and a full payload.

The Phoenix Motorcars SUV will be introduced in 2008, having a range greater than 100 miles, and can be recharged in less than 10 minutes with an off-board charging unit or trickle-charged overnight when plugged into a 220V power source, similar to the SUT. The estimated cost to recharge the battery pack is a small fraction of equivalent gasoline costs.

Ford Fusion Hybrid = Greater Fuel Efficiency

With the economy on shaky ground and gas prices in constant flux, Americans are looking for new ways to save. To help consumers win the battle for greater fuel economy, Ford Motor Company is introducing the most fuel-efficient mid-size sedan in America: the 2010 Fusion Hybrid.

The Fusion Hybrid will best the Toyota Camry Hybrid by at least 6 mpg in the city while meeting the needs of today’s fuel-conscious consumers. It achieves a better range of travel on battery power at a greater speed - due to a more fuel-efficient transition between the battery-powered motor and the gasoline-driven engine. The Fusion Hybrid also offers drivers a way to be more connected to the hybrid driving experience with unique instruments that help optimize performance.

Technology like SmartGauge with EcoGuide features two display screens showing different levels of information - including fuel and battery power levels, average and instant miles-per-gallon - to help drivers maximize fuel efficiency. The 2010 Fusion Hybrid will arrive in dealer showrooms in the spring of 2009.

Camaro Steals the Show at SEMA!

The SEMA Show is the premier automotive trade event in the world and draws the industry’s hottest automotive stars to Sin City. As one of this year’s highlights, Chevrolet will introduce four new concept cars based on the Chevrolet 2010 Camaro.

The concepts join regular-production and accessorized models, along with a dream collection of vintage Camaros, including rare COPO, Indy Pace Car and early Z28 models, marking the introduction the re-born sports car. Each of the concepts represents a different interpretation of performance, styling and personalization possibilities, from high-performance to street-savvy customizing. The accessories allow customers to personalize their vehicle with components that are designed, tested and warranted to the same standards as the Camaro itself.

In addition to the concept and classic Camaros, a production 2010 model showed off the range of appearance, performance and convenience accessories that will be available when the car hits the street early next year. The Camaro is the official car of the 2008 SEMA show.

Chevy Volt Engine Plant to Open in Flint, Michigan

General Motors Invests in New North American Plant for Small Engine Production

General Motors broke ground on the plant that will build the engine for the Chevrolet Volt and many of its next generation, fuel efficient 4-cylinder engines. In direct response to the current economy, there has been a significant shift to smaller cars. According to J.D. Power and Associates, sales of four-cylinder vehicles grew from 27.1 percent in 2004 to 35.7 percent in 2007.

To meet the current demand for great performance and fuel economy, GM announced a $359 million investment to build a new powertrain plant in Flint for production of smaller engines. In fact, they plan to double global production of four-cylinders by 2011 - with more than half of the increase coming in North America. The new strategy is highlighted by an all-new 1.4L Turbo engine that will power the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The 1.4L performs like a larger engine when needed, but retains the efficiency of a small four-cylinder in most driving conditions.

A non-turbocharged version will also be offered as the range extender for the Chevrolet Volt electric vehicle. When the battery’s energy is depleted, the 1.4L flex-fuel engine activates - generating electricity to power the Volt several additional miles until its battery is recharged.

General Motors 100th Anniversary - Reinventing the Automobile

Since its founding in 1908, General Motors has built over 450 million vehicles and currently manufactures cars in 35 different countries. To mark their 100th birthday, they rolled out what they are calling the “reinvention” of the automobile - the all-electric drive Chevrolet Volt.

The day kicked off with a live global broadcast in Detroit, where the production model of the Chevrolet Volt was revealed. The revolutionary extended-range electric vehicle will deliver up to 40 miles per gallon of gasoline and emissions-free driving for hundreds of additional miles. The broadcast also highlighted technologies, global products, leaders and future leaders from around the world. And even Chris Paine, director of the movie, “Who Killed the Electric Car” - which was highly critical of GM’s handling of its first electric vehicle prototype - was shooting his sequel, “Revenge of the Electric Car.”

During the last century, GM has been responsible for many innovations that have helped shape personal transportation - like the electric self-starter, the fully automatic transmission and shatter-proof safety glass. Going Green Can Increase Your MPG by 50-100%

Drivers struggling with high gas prices may have another option the next time they hit the road: a new system that can turn a vehicle into a hydrogen hybrid which dramatically boosts a vehicles’ gas mileage.

The cars are modified with a unique fuel cell system — a computer that communicates with the car’s computer — to harness the power of hydrogen. By using electricity from the battery, the fuel cell separates water into oxygen and hydrogen and blends the hydrogen with the fuel. This adds power to the fuel so each gallon of gas does more work and lasts longer. On a 3000-mile cross country test drive, a car equipped with the hydrogen hybrid system averaged 55 miles to the gallon.

After two years of research and development, Pro Motors Group has partnered with 4 Wheel Parts to offer nationwide installation of the hydrogen hybrid system. To date, about 250 to 300 cars have been converted.
